How do I make a professional jewelry steam cleaner for coins?

Posted by on Saturday, 10 December, 2011

I want to start making personalized coins – I need someone tell me how to make a professional steam cleaner for cleaning gold and silver coins

Chosen Answer:

The basic method of cleaning jewelry/coins consists
of 4 simple steps.

First, wipe the jewelry/coins with soft cloth soaked in a mixture of mild soap and warm water. Don’t use harsh detergents and stain removers for delicate jewelry.
Secondly, wash the jewelry/coins with warm water again. But don’t soak the jewelry in water. Some jewelry, like those using silver and gold can be damaged by water.

Third, polish the jewelry/coins with soft cloth. Don’ use brushes or any bristled item for fine jewelry/coins.

And lastly, dry the jewelry/coins thoroughly before keeping it in a pouch or box.
There are some kinds of jewelry/coins and gemstones that require unique approaches to cleaning. E.g. lapis lazuli should be cleaned with a mixture of cold water with little mild soap.

it would get one’s mind off oneself.

i know someone( who was troubled) who bought a couple of hamsters and made a huge hamster city with tubes and ramps and wheels, etc. it helped them take thier mind off of thier problems, and they came to have compassion for the cute little hamsters, learned some responsibility, and smiled alot more too :)

double eagle commemorative collection coin set?

Posted by on Wednesday, 30 November, 2011

I was wondering if someone could tell me if this is worth anything. It was purchased in 1986 from the National Historic Mint. It is listed as a first edition commemorative collection.honoring the American Flag, American Eagle, United States Constitution, Statue of Liberty and the Liberty Bell. It states .999 which is the outer part and 24 kt. gold as the inlay .has COA

Chosen Answer:

I can not find what you are describing, but I did find 34 items on eBay from the National Historic Mint every one of them at very low prices. I also found a question about halfway down the page at the second link which may interest you. My guess is you have a gold plated token or medal, and the gold plating would not add much value to it. I hope that helps.

Can someone inform me on what is the most efficient site to go to for “Coin Collectors”?

Posted by on Saturday, 26 November, 2011

I have what I believe to be a very old coin. And I want to see if it is of value before I attempt to “Auction it”! So rather than foing through hundreds of sreach pages — I would appreciate if some of my yahoo community members would know from personal experience what are some of the best, legimate coin collection and appraisal sites I may visit!

If so send me a instant message ASAP! Please! thanks at zemetro@verizon.net thanks again. All you yahoo members

Chosen Answer:

Check on EBay for a similar coin that’s being sold. Sometimes what something is appraised for and what you can get if you sell it are two different things.

And last but not least a 1900 one dollar coin with no mint mark

Thanks in advance…

Chosen Answer:

Condition is everything when it comes to coins. Without that information, all I can give you are ballpark figures for them. Which is basically the value of the gold, plus a small premium. Gold touched 50 an ounce today, but at eBay, people are paying a little more than that for bullion coins. Coins with no added collector value are bullion coins. Yours may have added collector value or they may not.

1903 S Liberty Double Eagle – 50
1903 Liberty Double Eagle – 50
1907 Liberty Eagle – 0

The other gold coins are from the current American Eagle Series, and they DO have dates: 1986, in Roman numerals.

Eagle – 00
Half Eagle – 0
Quarter Eagle – 0 X 2 = 0
One Tenth Eagle – 5

The silver dollar is worth a minimum .

You’ve got at least 00 in gold there, if all of the coins are genuine. There are a lot of counterfeits out there. It’s best to a have a coin dealer in your area, one with an excellent reputation for honesty, to look at them. If they are in high grade condition, you won’t be adding a lot of value to the 1986 coins, but the older ones could be worth as much as several thousand more.

what to do if i want to sell my premium coin collection?

Posted by on Tuesday, 22 November, 2011

world coins in all grades

Chosen Answer:

This is something you need to have checked out by a dealer. Go somewhere and see someone you can trust. Don’t be afraid to get second opinions. They will be able to tell you what the collection is worth. You could also buy a krause manual for identifying world coins and look the prices up in it. You should know however that krause books can get pricey.

Do you think casino coins have become valuable than what they were worth in a casino?

Posted by on Saturday, 19 November, 2011

Ever since about 5 years ago, many casinos have turned into E-PAY tickets when you cash out. So, if someone were to still have some of those old coins, could they sell them for more than what they were worth back then?

In other words, could a casino coin from around 2004-2005 be sold for more than ? And if so, what should the value be? Afterall, those coins are no more.

Chosen Answer:

yes, many of those are now collectibles! I buy them on Ebay to go with the matchbook from the casino. Have you been to Ebay to check them out?

Chosen Answer:

Since it is not legal tender but a private one it only has a value that a collector would pay. Collectors already have chips from that long ago. Only way to know if go on ebay and see what is being auctioned off.
