Search engines are great for that sort of research.

But coins don't have lengths.
Since they are typically circular they have diameters.

Search on "diameters of coins"
or be more specific
"diameters of pennies"
"diameters of US coins"
"diameters of Euro coins"
etc.

Here, try this one:
http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=diameters+of+coins

If the exchange rates and fees are in a way that the charity would lose money over them, then you'd not earn any money this way either as you'd have to pay the same fees. So if this in any way would be beneficial to you, then it would have been beneficial to the charity as well. And even in more situations, as the charity could simply collect the coins for longer and wait for a lot of coins of a certain currency to accumulate, and then to exchange them all at once.

So if you benefit from it, then the charity would have benefitted as well, making it immoral for you to take the coins.

Given:
N + D + Q = 33.
Q = N/3;
D = N/2.
Substitute:
N + N/2 + N/3 = 33;
(6/6)N + (3/6)N + (2/6)N = 33;
(11/6)N = 33;
N = 18.
Therefore
D = 18/2 = 9 and
Q = 18/3 = 6.
To check,
18 + 9 + 6 = 33,
and also:
$0.05*18 + $0.10*9 + $0.25*6 = $0.90 + $0.90 + $1.50 = $3.30.

She can do it the easy way and take them to a few dealers and see what they say. Or she can do it the hard way, like those of us you're asking, and spend the time, like we did, and still do, looking up each one in books like the yearly Guidebook to US coins by R. Yeoman (copies at most libraries). She will need to learn how to assess the condition of each coin, as that is the biggest factor in determining value. Then, once she knows the condition and the value the book gives, she can start looking at eBay sold results for the same coin in the same grade, to see how close to 'book' value they are actually selling for. Most of them don't even come close, and for low-value coins, you won't see them on eBay, or anywhere else. Certain high-value coins sell for more money through other venues than eBay. If she puts in the time to learn, like we did, she'll find those other places easily enough.

If she cares about what your grandmother spent years putting together, she'll do it. If she doesn't and is only thinking dollar signs, start hitting the dealers.

There are many publications that have some suggested prices. You can get them at coin dealers, or at your local library. But as you know, there is no one price for anything. Nothing is worth anything -- except what someone else is willing to pay for it. Everything -- coins, clothing, groceries, houses -- is only worth what someone is willing to accept for it. If the seller wants a high price, which the buyer is not willing to pay, what is that item worth? Nothing. The same with coins.

If you find a buyer that will pay top dollar, great. If not, then those coins are just pieces of metal, worth nothing. You have to decide what you are willing to take for them. Then THAT will be what they are worth.
